CareAccess, a Boston headquartered contract research organization (CRO), has acquired CEMEC, a large Brazil-based research center.

CEMEC operates a large research center in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil. The company notes that the center has a large multidisciplinary team and is equipped to conduct Phase II, III, and IV clinical studies in outpatient and hospital settings. Additionally, the research center has run “over 100 trials across 18 therapeutic areas” since its inception.

CareAccess first established its presence in Brazil, with the acquisition of Instituto Brasil de Pesquisa Clínica (IBPClin), a clinical trial center in Rio de Janeiro. At that time, the company noted that the purchase was “the first step to bring its decentralized clinical trial delivery model to Latin America”.

CareAccess has also made moves to expand its presence across the globe. In March last year, it opened a new research site in Warsaw, Poland.
