The emission intensity has decreased from 252.28 tons CO2e/million USD in 2019 to 111.65 tCO2e/million USD in 2024, a significant decrease of 55.74% reflecting substantial improvement in emission efficiency.
While only a marginal reduction of 1.71% in the total GHG emission was seen during 2019-2024 period, AstraZeneca reduced its emission intensity by half (55.74%) during the same period. This can be attributed to increasing revenues during the period and sustainable production practices. The emission intensity for Scope 1 and 2 is insignificant in comparison to emission intensity for Scope 3 and total emissions.
