Health tech startup Respiree has raised $11.6 million in a Series A funding round, as it looks to scale its artificial intelligence (AI) based patient monitoring platform and expand its global footprint.

The round was led by We Venture Capital and ClavystBio, with participation from Adaptive Capital Partners and several existing investors, including Greenwillow Capital Management, Seeds Capital, and angel network she1K.

The company, which originated in Singapore, is ramping up operations in the US and plans to establish its American headquarters in Houston at the Texas Medical Center (TMC) Innovation Hub. The funding will support commercial expansion, strengthen existing partnerships, and enable entry into new international markets including Thailand and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The company has developed a platform that combines US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared wearable sensors with AI algorithms to track and predict patient deterioration. The company’s core offering, the 1Bio platform, integrates data from electronic health records, mobile apps, third-party medical devices, and its own proprietary hardware to generate continuous, real-time insights into patient health.

“The digitalization of healthcare is a tremendous opportunity, but without smarter tools, it can overwhelm care teams—especially during staffing shortages,” Singh said. “We’re focused on delivering better use of data, not just more of it. That means enabling faster decisions, reducing false alarms, and improving patient outcomes.”

Strong Clinical Validation and Mayo Clinic Partnership

Respiree’s flagship AI model was developed through the Mayo Clinic’s Platform_Accelerate program and is designed to detect clinical deterioration, such as unplanned ICU transfers and rapid response events. According to a retrospective study involving over 60,000 patients, the model significantly outperformed the EPIC Deterioration Index, achieving a positive predictive value (PPV) of 54.9% at the Mayo Clinic’s Rochester site—more than six times higher than EPIC’s 8%.

In a pre-print published in The Lancet, the company reported that its model maintained a high sensitivity (73.4%) while keeping false alarms to a minimum. Respiree is currently seeking US FDA clearance for the model, with plans to integrate it fully into its 1Bio platform.

Backers of the Series A round cited the company’s strong clinical foundation and commercial potential. “Respiree offers a rare combination of high-performance AI, proven hardware, and seamless integration into clinical workflows,” said Louise Warme, Head of We Venture Capital. “They’re building tools that clinicians actually want to use.”

ClavystBio, which co-led the round, described the investment as part of its strategy to help Singapore-based companies scale internationally. “Respiree’s platform enhances patient care while empowering clinical teams with real-time, actionable insights,” said Anselm Tan, the firm’s Digital Health & MedTech Lead.

Respiree’s platform is designed to be both device-agnostic and compatible with a wide range of EHR systems, making it adaptable to different hospital environments. Its suite of tools includes:

• AI monitoring modules that flag early signs of clinical deterioration while minimizing false positives
• Automated care pathway tools that standardize treatment plans and support care delivery by nurses and frontline staff
• Connected wearables capable of capturing detailed cardio-respiratory data across various clinical scenarios
• A centralized platform that unifies analytics and insights from disparate systems in real time

Commercial Expansion and Regulatory Progress

The company has already established commercial operations in the US, Australia, and across Asia-Pacific. In March, Respiree announced a partnership with Roche Diagnostics to launch pilot programs in the region. The company is also working with international healthcare providers to deploy its solutions in both acute and home-care settings.

Greenwillow Capital, one of Respiree’s earliest backers, said the company has made significant progress since its initial investment in 2022. “We’re seeing solid traction in tier-one markets and are confident in the team’s ability to execute globally,” said Dr. Wong Mun Yew, Managing Partner at Oriza Greenwillow Technology Fund.

The new capital will be used not only to expand commercial reach but also to deepen relationships with existing channel partners and speed up development of new business opportunities. Respiree aims to address gaps in both hospital and remote care by offering scalable solutions that are easy to deploy across care settings.

In a healthcare environment increasingly driven by data and under pressure from workforce shortages, tools that improve efficiency without sacrificing care quality are in high demand. Respiree is positioning its platform as part of the answer—by helping healthcare systems act earlier, faster, and more accurately.
