The first US commercial procedures using Stereotaxis’ MAGiC Sweep, a breakthrough robotically navigated high-density electrophysiology (EP) mapping catheter, have been successfully completed at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, New Jersey.

Stereotaxis boasts that the milestone marks a new era in cardiac arrhythmia diagnosis and treatment. The procedures were performed by Dr. Raffaele Corbisiero, Chief of Electrophysiology, and Dr. Pedram Kazemian, Program Director of the EP Fellowship at Deborah Heart and Lung Center.

“We’re excited to be the first to demonstrate the value of robotic high-density mapping and to offer this important innovation to our patients,” said Dr. Corbisiero. “The ability to create a more accurate, detailed map of complex anatomy is crucial in diagnosing and treating arrhythmias.”

Dr. Kazemian added that navigating the catheter was straightforward and effective: “Electrogram signals were very clear, and the catheter maintained stable contact without causing ventricular ectopy. This is a significant leap forward for robotic electrophysiology.”

The news comes on the heels of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for MAGiC Sweep in July. The catheter is now commercially available in the United States, with regulatory submissions underway in Europe.

Equipped with 20 electrodes, MAGiC Sweep enables rapid and detailed electroanatomical mapping while integrating seamlessly with Stereotaxis’ robotic systems. It’s atraumatic design prioritizes patient safety while supporting anatomically accurate maps, as per Stereotaxis.
