Danish biopharmaceutical BOOST Pharma has announced a SEK 34 million ($3.55 million) investment from Sound Bioventures.
The funding forms part of a seed round extension and will support continued development of the company’s stem cell-based therapy, BT-101. It is a novel mesenchymal stem cell-based therapy aimed at treating osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), also known as brittle bone disease.
Designed for early intervention in infants, BT-101 seeks to address the root cause of the condition, reducing fracture frequency and improving long-term outcomes. Currently, there are no approved disease-modifying treatments for OI, which causes severe physical disability from birth.
BOOST Pharma plans to use the investment to accelerate clinical trials, bringing the therapy closer to regulatory approval and eventual patient access.
“We are honored to welcome Sound Bioventures to our syndicate,” said Ingelise Saunders, Chair of BOOST Pharma. “Their commitment strengthens BOOST Pharma’s position as a leader in cell therapy for genetic bone disorders.”
Johan Kördel, Managing Partner at Sound Bioventures, added, “BOOST Pharma’s innovative approach to treating osteogenesis imperfecta has enormous potential to deliver both clinical and value impact.”
