Limula, a Swiss life sciences tools company specializing in automated solutions for cell and gene therapy manufacturing, has announced a collaboration with the Institut Paoli-Calmettes (IPC) in Marseille, France, to enhance blood product processing for haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) transplantation.
The partnership will see IPC adopt Limula’s LimONE platform to automate critical steps in stem cell preparation, including the removal of cryoprotectants before infusion. This process aims to improve both the quality and consistency of transplants, while also enhancing patient safety and experience.
IPC, a European cancer treatment centre with an established transplantation program, performs more than 150 stem cell transplants annually. The collaboration builds on encouraging results from earlier studies of Limula’s prototype, with recent confirmatory data strengthening the case for wider adoption of LimONE.
“Our team is eager to integrate LimONE into our facility after seeing the improvements it brings to cell processing and the patient journey,” said Boris Calmels, Head of the Cellular Manufacturing Unit at IPC.

Autologous HSC transplantation impacts nearly 50,000 patients each year across Europe. By automating the preparation process, Limula and IPC aim to reduce variability, streamline workflows, and expand access to advanced therapies.
